An "external company" is a company that is registered in another country and that wishes to establish a company in South Africa.
| For example: |
AERO BENIN is a company that is registered in Germany. Its main business focus
is air and sea freight and passenger transport. It established an external
company in South Africa known as AERO BENIN SA. |
A South African legal practitioner should be used to facilitate the registration process of such external companies.
In addition to the various documents that must be completed and submitted to the Registrar of Companies, a Memorandum and Articles of Association, bound in book form must be provided. Each page must be certified by a Notary Public in the country of origin. If these documents are not in English, a translated set must be provided – and this translation needs to be authorised by way of a translation certificate.
